How to set up a beginner jeweller's workspace?
Everyone's circumstances differ, but use the resources available to you.
Bench
You can buy a dedicated jeweller's bench or use an ordinary table.

Bench pin
Attach it to a regular table with a hand vice, or buy a bench pin with a clamp.

Scrap drawer
Fit a drawer, tray, or box underneath for filings. Collect, clean, and remelt them. The drawer should slide out like a keyboard tray, and can also store tools.

Lighting
Light should fall from the left. Ideally, choose a height-adjustable lamp suspended above the bench, fixed to the ceiling or a rail.

Ventilation
Install an extractor, like a kitchen hood, or keep a window open. Run a fan while working to clear acid fumes, and air the room before starting.
Chair
Choose a comfortable chair without wheels, so you can lean on the armrests and the legs do not slide.
Where should rolling mills go?
Use a heavy, stable table. A balcony or sturdy windowsill can also work.
